On Thursday, Newland and pupils from Charles Hart Center Faculty surprised seniors from Colony Property, a senior household in northwest Washington, D.C., with customized Valentine’s.

Kaevon Jefferson, 11, from Ida B. Wells Center College, produced a card that study “Roses are purple, violets are blue. I have a huge heart — I hope you do too.”
