British cycling team changes name again for Tour de France

LONDON — The cycling team recognized as Sky when winning 6 Tour de France titles from 2012-18 acquired its second title change in 15 months.

Sky became Team Ineos just before Egan Bernal’s victory in the 2019 race. Bernal followed Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas as winners for the Britain-centered workforce.

The crew said in a statement it will be identified as Ineos Grenadiers when the delayed Tour opens August 29.

The name promotes a brand name of SUV designed by its billionaire owner Jim Ratcliffe which the workforce stated will launch in 2021.

Biking news web sites in Italy noted the team’s colors will modify from generally black to blue.
