Tony Cooke, the father of 2008 Olympic winner Nicole Cooke, informed a health care tribunal on Monday that Shane Sutton learned an empty phial of EPO in his auto at the 5 Valleys road race when he was nationwide coach of Wales.

Cooke was called as a witness for the previous Staff Sky and British Cycling physician Richard Freeman, who is accused of buying testosterone for an unnamed rider in 2011. 

Freeman has admitted to 18 of 22 prices in his fitness-to-practise listening to but denies that central charge, insisting he purchased the drug to deal with Sutton’s erectile dysfunction. Sutton has rejected the claims and referred to as Freeman a “liar”. The listening to was thanks to end by Thursday, but will now run into a 3rd year.

Below cross-assessment from the General Health-related Council’s QC Simon Jackson, Cooke informed the tribunal on Monday that he had read a tale relating to a phial of banned blood booster EPO at the 5 Valleys road race. 

It was not specified at which edition of the race the incident took area but Sutton was mentor at Welsh Cycling in the late 1990s right before becoming a member of British Biking in 2002.

Cooke stated he listened to from Sutton’s driver at that race that both of those adult males had left the automobile unattended and returned to come across the vacant phial in it. “Your informant mentioned Mr Sutton was extremely offended about this becoming still left in the car or truck in which he was travelling?” Jackson asked. “He assumed it had been remaining there intentionally by a rider?” 

“That’s correct,” replied Cooke. “My have interpretation of it at the time was a single of his [Sutton’s] innocence.”

“But you also say you felt unpleasant that the Welsh national coach would have recognised a phial of EPO ?” continued Jackson. 

“That was the point,” Cooke said. “I interpreted it at the time as Mr Sutton rightly being angry. Why was it there? And so on But how would just one know in these kinds of a quick space of time? Mr Sutton was definitely ready to recognise it in accordance to the account provided to me.”

Cooke also alleged that he and his daughter went to Uk Anti-Doping with a variety of problems in 2013, including worries about Sutton, but stated that none of them had been acted upon.
