In September, the “Monty Python” actor and comic signed an open up letter in solidarity with Rowling, who has frequently created headlines this 12 months following implying on social media ― and in a lengthy essay ― that the thought of gender id invalidates her knowledge as a cisgender lady.

LGBTQ writer and activist Charlotte Clymer shared comparable sentiments.
“Well, John, we are not currently being taken care of kindly,” she wrote. “And I’m not chatting about cordiality. I’m chatting about discrimination in work, housing, health treatment and other regions of living, all of which is exacerbated when general public figures communicate from ignorance and bigotry on trans legal rights.”
As of Monday evening, Cleese experienced not responded publicly to the controversy. HuffPost arrived at out to the actor for comment and did not immediately hear back.
